Adding custom snippets to the site

You can import snippets from pages open in a document window or from documents open in other applications, and you can copy them from other sites.

Note: You cannot update the Custom tab from site pages that contain snippets in the same way that you can update the External, Colors, and Fontsets tabs. That is, there is no command for snippets comparable to Get References Used, Get Colors Used, and Get Fontsets Used.

To import a snippet to the site from a page in the site:

1 Select an object, text, or source code on a page in a document window.

2 Do one of the following:

  • Drag the selection to the Custom tab in a site window, or copy the selection and paste it in the tab. The snippet appears in the tab with the name "untitled snippet." It also appears in the Site Extras tab () of the Object palette.
  • Choose Custom on the menu of the Site Extras tab of the Object palette, and drag the selection to the tab. The snippet also appears in the Custom tab in a site window.

  • 3 Rename the snippet. For information, see Editing site snippets.

To paste a snippet to a site from another application:

1 Select the snippet. For example, select a paragraph in a FrameMaker® document.

    2 Copy the selection.

3 Display the Custom tab in a site window.

4 Paste. The snippet appears in the Custom tab and also in the Site Extras tab of the Object palette. In the Custom tab, it has the name "untitled snippet."

5 Rename the snippet. For information, see Editing site snippets.

To copy a snippet from another site:

1 Open the site documents for the source and destination sites in two site windows.

2 Drag the snippet from the Custom tab in the source site to the Custom tab in the destination site. The snippet also appears in the Site Extras tab of the Object palette.
